Ron Swan-song

First, I would like to state that Ron Swanson is my hero. And also one of the best TV characters ever, he is the character of a lifetime.

So here was today’s back and forth email banter with my dear friend T-dog, who lives far away in St. Louis. And as a dear friend, he understands my dry, sarcastic wit.

ME:
So, I’m working on a project at work, and in the (144 pages of) instructions it says “each project shall be prepared in writing. Telephonic, fax, and telegraphic offers will not be accepted”.
I’m really sad that I can’t go back to 1870 and use the telegraph to submit this project.

T-dog:
Submit your project on Twitter. It’s not specifically disallowed.

ME:
I’m not sure I could really convey our company’s merits, process, and pricing in 140 characters…..
Maybe I could live tweet the project… filibuster that sh*t, keep tweeting until it was done.

T-dog:
Anything you can’t sum up in 140 characters is too damn complicated.

Olive Us!

Have you stumbled across this yet? There is this lovely American family that lives in France. And boy do I wish I could be eight years old and a part of their family. And I’m apparently not the only person fascinated by this family, because they have recently started the cutest little webisode series starring their six adorable, smart, and well-dressed kids. Olive Us.

Watch, enjoy, and yearn to be part of this family!

My favorite is the very first episode, Garden Day. “Best day ever.”

Watch here!

Which is yours?

#EndofJanuary

Ok, its been a few days. Like 22.

Remember that list of New Year’s resolutions?

I’m happy to report I’m doing pretty good on it. Spend around $100 a week. Flossing my teeth every night, even when I’m really tired. Reading more. Making items for my Etsy shop regularly. Read more (I read 2 chapters last night instead of watching TV!).

But…… there are two resolutions that I’m falling behind on:
#8: Write more
#9: Blog

So I raise a glass to the end of January, and hope to get back on the blog horse.

Auld Lang Syne: 2013

Happy New Year, friends.

2013, what do you have in store for us?

I lost my writing momentum just before Christmas. But I’m back now. And would you believe it, one of my New Year’s goals is to write more, and write better.

Come back tomorrow, where I will share more of my goals for this new year. This new year which my friend Mindy will be a great year for us all. As a hopeful people, we say this every year. Why would you start a year with anything other than great hope for the days to come? But this year, we will stick to it. We will work, we will fight, we will find greatness.

So raise a glass with me, and welcome in the new year, and “we’ll take a cup of kindness yet for auld lang syne.”

Countdown to Christmas: Dec 14

Got it done! What a nice surprise!

This is my mom’s favorite Christmas song. And mine. “We Need A Little Christmas”

NeedALittleMusic

Out of curiosity, I asked my 90 year old Grandmother what her favorite Christmas song was. “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” and “White Christmas”.

My heart breaks for those whose lives have changed forever in the Connecticut shooting. For them, Christmas will never be the same, and there will certainly be no music, laughter or singing for quite some time. I wish them peace.

Countdown to Christmas: Dec 13

Nothing too exciting tonight…. the last couple drawings have been difficult. I’ve used many of my favorite Christmas lyrics in the first 2 weeks of drawings.

LetitSnow

Twelve days until Christmas! Twelve more drawings to go.

Also, tomorrow’s drawing will appear on Saturday…. I’m going out with co-workers after work tomorrow night. I’ll make sure my belated Friday drawing is GOOD, too.
